no, i did not try the 1.2.6 version, but after tweaking some things i was able to send and receive, a lot of freezing, but it works. so i am guessing its a resource optimization problem. but...

well, thanks guys for all the replies! (sorry for the delay, but i was without internet since last wed) i have my n900 fully operational, and enjoying it very much.
