I had a problem similar to this recently, it turned out I had the volume turned down on the N900 when in headset mode, the N900 stores different setting for different outputs, so check the volume...

the bug, battery died in 6 hours isn't fixed. in other words, same as before. if you ever turned wifi on then switch it off without reboot, all the power is still consumed within several hours.
