That did it! I installed the gconf editor and noted that - after unplugging the USB keyboard - the 'keyboard-attached' setting was still checked... Unchecking that option restored the onscreen...

Well... I think you can, at least with an older version of MM. Not sure on the current one. Probably use imagemagick to split into tiles, then somehow stuff it in database.

Adjust the curve. This has to be done for every brush as there is no global pressure setting...
