Questions to Maemo/Nokia Dev Team N900

Hi All,

I know there are many threads that might have handled similar topics, but they contain too much un-needed info. I have very specific and concise questions (Yes/No) to which I hope for some...

Re: 3.5 g on n900

FYI
2.5G (GPRS) 56 kbit/s - 0.114 kbit/s
2.75G...

Give me a break. I do not wanna pour oil in the fire about the is-it-a-smartphone-or-computer-discussion. The mentioned point by the creator is solvable via software upgrade and would be highly...

This is a totally different question. Feel free opening a new thread to discuss it. fwiw we are saying that Maemo 5 Qt 4.6 apps will run in Maemo 6 and we are discussing with GTK+ and Hildon...

Re: Is there an official N900 software roadmap?

They stopped maintaining Maemo 4 when Maemo 5 was around the corner. So my belief is no.

/sbin/ifconfig wlan0

ah, good points indeed!

The software and service sides of the business is most definitely where the future lies, and I believe Nokia is working, and has been for quite some time, towards becoming...

Re: Email synch frequency < 5 minutes?

You don't have to change providers! You simply need to configure Nokia Messaging. Completely Different things.

Check my post in the N900 sub-section for how to configure Nokia Messaging to work...

Re: Emails are not part of Conversations? Why?

The Conversations app is a progression of Conversations on S60, which was SMS only. Adding IM was great, but email would be even better. S60 users have begged for this feature for years.

It could...

Re: video playback can't be minimized?

No idea *shrugs*. I guess it's similar to bounce in which when you switch it, there's no point in it having focus so it's coded to just pause. The game bounce will also auto pause when you switch it...

Re: Theory 1: only 30% of the cost of the N900 is "real" cost

It's well-known that most smartphones have a cost production of 100-150$ (Nokia's, iPhone, etc.)
but Theory 2: you produce and sell 100s million of 17" panels and 500GB hard disks so less profit for...

Re: How is 'bricked' possible on the N900?

technically, all those bricks that you read about on the n900 are not bricks, because you can "revive" the device by reflashing it.

"brick" means it becomes completely useless.

Re: How is 'bricked' possible on the N900?

I think the term bricked is being used rather loosely in respect to how you describe it. code cannot damage hardware. just not possible. Tho it might cause the firmware to wind up in a state where it...

Re: Anyone "jailbreaked" the N900 yet?
