Yes, kinda. It was part of their development plan for Maemo, and it has been a lot more successful in terms of sales than they thought it would be.

Maemo as it is doesn't have any serious bugs...

When phone heats up you can start xterm and look for runaway processes with top command.

Known bug when dealing with large email accounts. Fixed in next firmware. Trim down your mailbox to help the problem.
