okay, i don't necessarily need usb to install maemo-leste, it is possible to install and configure uboot from fremantle and boot to the system on sdcard. actually thought of it right after writing...

in 2019 we have maemo-leste. if usb ports of my n900s worked, i'd install it.
i run it on the droid4 though.

As far as updates are concerned.
For the n900 (and it is pretty much the same for the n8x0...as far as their own particular official repos go....)
Once you are running pr 1.3 and cssu...
you will...

@jdb2 if you think the PR 1.3.1 links you found are from a trusted source, then you can share them, maybe it will be useful for other people. The CSSU includes PR 1.3.1 so flashing PR 1.3 would work...

And for cssu open the cssu instructions page with your phones micro-b browser and click the link for installing cssu testing. It will start the update.

Google "archive team maemo". There you will find N900 unlocked images from skeiron archives. There is a link. Choose pr 1.3 global. You need also the flasher to flash your phone. You can google...
