Thanks.

If you're getting to fastboot mode then you're doing it way too early.

The procedure is:
Power on > wait for purple led > hammer vol key (up or down) a few times.

Note this will only work when the aosp boot.img is flashed, because the required bits aren't in the sailfish boot.img

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

So i tested to install SailfishOS like here discribed:

PHP Code:

!!!! Backup your data you do it on your own risk !!!!

unlock the bootloader check Sony Open Devices
flash AOSP 6.0.1_r80 on your device
.

fastboot -S 256M flash boot boot.img
fastboot
-S 256M flash system system.img
fastboot
-S 256M flash userdata userdata.img

    flash twrp

fastboot
-S 256M flash FOTAkernel twrp-3.0.2-0-scorpion.img

successfully flash the AOSP images, but when trying to flash the twrp in the fotakernel i get:
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)

so i test:

fastboot -s 256M flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-scorpion_windy.img

every thing goes fine...

then followed the instructions..

all okay.

So the problem, the tablet wont shutdown correctly.
The screen is black but red light is on.

Only with the power button long press is working.

any hints? :(

so i see i buyed the sgp 612 (32 GB) is this the Problem?

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

so you have successfully installed sailfish os and it works ok?

with the shutdown, it does take quite some time but it will eventually do it, at least that is how it operates on my tablet

monkeyisland 2019-02-02 13:03

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

Yes it is working but it shows only 10 GB from 16 GB evtl.
The tablet is a 32 GB Device.
Shutdown dont work i leave it 1 minute only red light is on. :(

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

monkeyisland 2019-02-02 14:54

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

okay.. thats a pity.
Have you advice for me ho to use the hole memory so 32 GB?
:)

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

So i tested when airplane mode is active, so no connections. The tablet switch off after 2 minutes.
So there is possibly a chance to fix?

Hello,

Is it possible (or safe) to upgrade tablet to 3.0.1.14 (ssu release 3.0.1.14, version -dup)?

Thanks for your reply :)

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

Dup to 3.0.1.11, using an old version could cause problems like this because a bunch of sensor middleware got updated

monkeyisland 2019-02-04 09:02

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

okay i test it
thank you

Ok, so you have a 32gb scorpion_windy? You should be able to extend the data partition if it is only showing up 16gb total.

monkeyisland 2019-02-06 04:49

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

okay have you got a how to?
I checked for flashing in recovery. Twrp Partition was roundabout 26 GB.
in system / Memory only 11 from 16GB?

At this point, I can manually restart initial-bootstate.service and start-user-session.service sequentially via SSH to launch the GUI.

Current I cannot trace which program deletes the content of /run/systemd/boot-status/. Does anyone have any idea about how to walkaround this?

With further observation, I finally and correctly detect that some SD card makes udev units spend more time to initialize. If systemd-udev-settle.service gets launched after initial-bootstate.service because of this, the latter will fail to fill the content of /run/systemd/boot-status/, causing a failed boot.

Currently this race condition can be solved by copying /lib/systemd/system/initial-bootstate.service to /etc/systemd/system/, and making it run after systemd-udev-settle.service, as the diff below shows:
Code:

--- /lib/systemd/system/initial-bootstate.service        2018-12-06 09:45:32.000000000 +0800

Still waiting on updated targets on OBS and I haven't tested updating yet so its still squarely in the 'you can if you dare' territory

I tested updating today and it all appeared to go fine, but it looks like media playback (video/audio) has stopped working for some reason, so best hold off updating until i figure out whats wrong

EDIT: Media seems to work ok now, so it's fine to update

I wont be able to test it as I am currently not near to my tablet, the repositories have been updated and I'm running a test build, but thats all I can do for a little while sorry.

If someone wants to test it out and report back that would be much appreciated

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

Hi.

I just got this tablet (wifi version) and succesfully flashed "sailfishos-scorpion_windy-release-2.2.1.18-Alpha1.zip" from here: https://195.201.99.111/sailfishos-scorpion_windy/ into it.

At first boot everything runs fine however when I try to upgrade in cli using these commands:

Quote:

$ devel-su
# ssu re 3.0.0.8
# zypper ref -f
# version --dup
(as 3.0.0.8 is a stop release). It upgrades without any errors but only shows the "sony logo" after reboot without getting into SailfishOS.

Does anyone know how to upgrade successfully from the "2.2.1.18-Alpha1" build? I can't do it via settings.

EDIT:
Output of flashing SailfishOS:

https://i.imgur.com/DeuQReq.jpg

Don't know if the errors are critical.

Re: SailfishOS on Sony Z3 Compact Tablet

Because it's a ported device we don't maintain previous releases as such, so its most likely got the latest middleware with old jolla packages and not real happy about that.

I suggest you grab a newer build from here:
https://gitlab.com/sailfishos-porter...indy_ci/-/tags

And yes I should maybe copy some of those to my server anyway :D
