The theme sounded familiar and at first I thought we were recycling themes again, but it turns out not quite ;)

Ok, it's awkward, but i am obviously out of ideas, please don't let me win again or next theme might be "pointy".

I have no problem with pointy. I support any theme you choose, as long as you don't choose horny - which is also on your presented screenshot. :D:D:D:D:D:p

Too late for using it for anything serious. I always wanted one when I was a teenager but they were out of my reach. So I became a collector in my old age, to fulfil my teenage dreams ;) I don't use them, just bask in their awesomeness ;)

I longed for one of those back in the day, too. IIRC, in the US, Radio Shack sold several models of Sharp Pocket Computer under their own brand name. The probably did that in other markets, too.

I did have a TI-66 (outsourced by TI to Toshiba) which was technically my Dad's. He didn't really need the programmability, so his daily driver was a more pocketable, non-programmable sharp scientific model. (I used it in school, the only programming I did on it was to track gas mileage in my car, which was 12-14 mpg. :( For those who use the SI, that's approximately 603 kilorods/hogshead.)

I think it might be kinda redundant to post my favorite Sharp(TM) device for competition, but I'll try to dig it out later for fun. It occurs to me I haven't seen any of their products in the US for quite a few years . . . pity.

I know that the US gallon is smaller than the imperial gallon, making the American cars sound worse on fuel economy than they are, but 12 mpg is pretty bad by any measure.

Actually, we SI nerds measure fuel economy exactly the other way around: in units of volume per unit of distance*), which would make your car do about 0.3 kilothimbles/nanoparsec.

*) Which cancels out nicely as a unit of area, as XKCD wittily observed. Your car thus does about 0.282 aT (atto Texases).

In the car's defense, it was an old car 35 years ago, being originally a first anniversary present for my Mom from my Dad! :)

And 1 Texas is approximately 108 centiFrances . . . it makes the efficiency look just a little better, and every drop counts.

Re: Phone Camera Competition June 2021: "Sharp"

Oh yeah!

I had a 1245 back in the 80's and yes, did a lot of programming. At least until I reached the border of approximately 1500 bytes / chars of Basic code. No room for commenting! :)
But learned to do 'condensed programming'.

Late I found a book about assembler commands for this processor and did a lot of Peek & Poke of hex values into the memory and made my if-else and other loops even way smaller. As well as finding out stepping through the memory that there was a bit more of memory reserved for arrays and other stuff and used that for my small machine code stuff.

Oh memories. But it somehow degraded and I do not have it anymore :(. Used a E-500 later for calculation stuff but even way more powerfulnit never came close the feeling of that 1245 (1403 was even better but no money at that times).
A friend of mine even had that attachable thermopaper printer and probably I still have some assembler printouts...

So pichlo, you have my vote!!!

It is.
And thanks for giving me an excuse to vent!
I hate these things, for so many reasons.
There's so many of them!
They are so new that we don't have any rules and regulations for them, resulting in:
  • people driving very fast on the sidewalk
  • people dumping them anywhere (specifically, in the middle of the bike lane) as soon as they're done - because "I don't own it so I don't care"
  • kids wasting their allowances (they're not cheap you know)
  • even more digital/mobile surveillance (impossible to use without a mobile device with GPS)

There's also a new job description for people picking them up from remote locations, charging them with their own private electricity, and bringing them to more central locations. I saw a news item about it, it pays way below minimum wage. IIRC, 4€/h if you have your own truck. And oh the irony, they speak out against modern slavery.

And whatever happened to owning a bike? It's not hard, but so many basic everyday skills are simply dying out.

Rant over.

Here's a sharp-dressed bird, but more importantly, he's just impaled dinner on his sharp beak.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9e6ba3cc_k.jpg

Here's a few more for fun.

Sony Xperia 10 II running SFOS 4.1, shot with piggz advanced camera with multi-cam support. The telephoto lens camera was used.

Great Blue Heron with fish -- maybe a perch, I dunno. I saw him walk into the pond on his long stilt legs and spear the unlucky fish. Pretty cool birds to watch unless you've got an ornamental koi pond.

Some nice depth of field action going on there. And as soon as the tip section is snapped off, that dulling knife is sharp once again, so it's got a kind of resurrecting sharpness.
