Turing Phone Appassionato now With "Sir Alan"
From Google Alerts today: Turing's latest phone comes with a digital assistant called Sir Alan, reports The Verge.
The more important story is buried a little, and it's that TRI is (alegedly) partnering with a Chinese electronics firm known as TCL to produce their next handset. As TCL has actually made smartphones that have actually shipped and actually gotten into customers' hands, that's a good idea if it really happens. The article is suitably skeptical as befits TRI news. |
Re: Turing Phone Appassionato now With "Sir Alan"
I would buy drugs from TRI.

Re: Turing Phone Appassionato now With "Sir Alan"
Teeheehee,
testers report it's quite a bit of work to get Sir Alan to answer requests, suggesting it doesn't even do anything… video (SCNR) |

Couple more sites quote the press releases:
xda-developers and prnewswire Looks like no Sailfish this time, rather Android 7.1.1 (hardened with Buzzword Defense Technology or something), but this is TRI, so who knows. And all for just $1099 or $1599, apparently depending on how much you want to spend. |

And now for the important question : will it run SFOS? Yes? No? Maybe? What am I doing here anyway?
|
Re: Turing Phone Appassionato now With "Sir Alan"
I didn't think turing had enough credibility for this to be worth sharing or considering.

Re: Turing Phone Appassionato now With "Sir Alan"
I wonder if Turing has enough bad Karma to bring down TCL.
Probably not but I would still not invest in it until the matter's cleared :D |
Re: Turing Phone Appassionato now With "Sir Alan"
I am not sure anymore about the karma concept. If it was in action many people would perform an "insta drop dead".
My experience says its all about wave length. And TRI sends out a very special one with humongous promises at 1600$. It may fit to people we do not have on the radar. Best thing about waves, you can actually use them to pop more corn :D |

I think we could do a MadLib with TRI press releases.

(Highly important. Do not mind if designing them makes up more than 50% of your companies total workload.) |
Re: Turing Phone Appassionato now With "Sir Alan"
Just to bring this thread on topic again :D :
The new twitter account of TRI is somewhat acitve and is promoting their AI 'Sir Alan' since a few months now. The following new article features some pictures and a hands-on-video of a working prototype of the Appassionato phone: http://www.androidauthority.com/turi...review-792840/ TRI aims to release the phone at the end of 2017. Here are some quotes and specs from the above mentioned article: Quote:

I'd rather buy a Samsung device then, if I was looking for a soulless android device. |
Re: Turing Phone Appassionato now With "Sir Alan"
"the metallic body is complemented by Gorilla Glass on both sides"
I loled hard. :D So, TRI make a frame with the "unbreakable Liquidmorphium", and then put a glass on top of it, on the *back* where there is no screen to protect otherwise, to increase the chances to break something on an unbreakable phone. |

I'm wondering what will happen to Sailfish OS in the future, how long it can be alive :(
