problems with N900 sensors

Maybe one month ago i changed my N900 to another because the camera shutter sensor did not work anymore. I tried two different backplates without success.

Now this second N900 does not anymore detect backplate and because of this i am not able to use sd-cards! dmesg does not show anything when i remove and insert the back plate. Magnet is there(stand locks down normally).

What is killing my N900s?!

Missing magnets?

See also this thread for other issues you may have with replacement cases.

Magnet is there. I have tested both problems with two backplates. Cases are original. I have working phones too. I expect backplates to be ok. I will test this...

What "dmesg" command shows, when you open & close cover? Should be sth like that:

[97938.596374] mmc0: cover is open, card is now inaccessible
[97938.906646] mmc0: card 1234 removed
[97940.222595] mmc0: cover is closed, card is now accessible
[97940.743347] mmc0: host does not support reading read-only switch. assuming write-enable.
[97940.743377] mmc0: new high speed SDHC card at address 1234
[97940.763427] mmcblk2: mmc0:1234 SA08G 7.41 GiB
[97940.763702] mmcblk2: p1 p2 p3

Oh, you closed/opened cover exactly at the same time as
ontime?

Why not just open/close/open and check dmesg' latest output directly after that?

Look, my card detection and cover sensor doesn't work too. Guess why :D
Earlier I used small magnet attached straight to indicated component.
You can also use search function to find this.

Hey, I just realized my n900 missing the same piece of magnet, if I just replace it with something magnet like, will it work?

Edit: Ok, dumb question xD
