[REQUEST] Please provide clean BackupMenu image to restore

Hi! I have N900 with broken USB socket and I need to reflash it because my camera doesn't work because of software errors.

Can you share a clean backupmenu image pls?

Ignoring for the time being the legal issues, I am afraid restoring an image from device A on device B might not work anyway.

Do you need only rootfs and optfs or all three partitions?

Better backup your current system to a PC via backupmenu. You can plain copy all the partitions to your PC, maybe with the help of a Linux-Live-CD.

Please verify that you have installed the kernel and modules of the original image.
In a X-Terminal compare the output of
Code:

dpkg -l | grep kernel
uname -a

to match installed packages with running kernel.

Hi [Alien],
i created a torrent for the rootfs, freshly after flashing. only backupmenu and rootsh installed.
The system is fully upgraded for security.

Make sure you have kernel version 2.6.28-20103103+0m5 installed. Do this with these commands
Code:

dpkg -l|grep kernel
uname -a

and compare the output
Quote:

$ dpkg -l|grep kernel
ii kernel 2.6.28-20103103+0m5 Flashable Linux kernel
ii kernel-flasher 2.6.28-20103103+0m5 Linux kernel updater
ii kernel-modules 2.6.28-20103103+0m5 Linux kernel modules
ii libdrm2 2.3.1-3 Userspace interface to kernel DRM services -
ii module-init-tools 3.4-1maemo5+0m5 tools for managing Linux kernel modules

$ uname -a
Linux Nokia-N900 2.6.28-omap1 #1 PREEMPT Fri Aug 6 11:50:00 EEST 2010 armv7l unknown
Better backup the current state of affairs to your PC !!!
Make sure you have a backup of everything !!!

Did i mention to backup the whole content of the device???

Put the rootfs.tar into the folder systemBackups on the internal sdcard labeled Nokia N900. From backupmenu restore the backup

Good luck

Edit: I am not quite confident, if i included the trackers in the torrent. You might want to add them manually:
udp://tracker.opentrackr.org:1337
udp://tracker.coppersurfer.tk:6969
udp://tracker.leechers-paradise.org:6969
udp://zer0day.ch:1337

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Wouldn't it be better to provide an image with latest CSSU and/or power kernel?

As I guess there will be not much peeps using plain omap kernel (ofc there might be some but they should upgrade then ;)).

This will do it for recovery though. After recovered/reflashed, one could upgrade the kernel and make one image themselves with backupmenu.

Ah yes, you are right.
I mixed it up with a different topic (exchanging images between devices where we need the same kernel/modules on the target device as in the to-be-transferred image)

Edited my post above to list the trackers for the torrent.
