Nokia N9 and Nokia N900 GPS "Looking for GPS" issue
Hello
I have searched in this forum for all the possible solutions to fix the GPS lock on both Nokia N9 and Nokia N900 , but no luck. It always shows "Looking for GPS" in red color text. 1- Followed the process suggested in https://wiki.maemo.org/Resurrect_your_N9 2) Changed the location-settings.conf file through nano editor and used N9 Qtweak to change the supl 3) Searched every available thing on google but no luck in GPS locking. Any alternate way to get the GPS lock on the current location ? So many threads are available and felt starting a new thread might get some help from those who are still using the devices in 2021. Thanks. |
Re: Nokia N9 and Nokia N900 GPS "Looking for GPS" issue
Just checked upon an N9 without SIM in place and only modifications made were "run N9 QTweakAll and change the GPS Fix provider to "supl.google.com" and "For decreasing the obsolescence of Certificates, you may install aegis-certman-common-ca_1.0.8+0m9_all.deb created by Halftux". Have you installed GPS MeeFo to keep track of satellite reception?
If positioning issue related to Maps & Drive activation have you tried using? https://openrepos.net/content/hamedr...-drive-enabler Sorry can't remember whether need to alter date upon N9 to earlier times to allow installation. |
Re: Nokia N9 and Nokia N900 GPS "Looking for GPS" issue
Thanks.. Unfortunately my Nokia N9 stuck in boot loop and trying to fix with the flasher but facing driver issue for windows 10.
Suitable USB interface(bootloader/phonet) not found.. waiting.... Once my N9 is back I will try and let you know. |
Re: Nokia N9 and Nokia N900 GPS "Looking for GPS" issue
Can't remember whether need to "Disable driver signature enforcement" under Windows 10 or could probably get necessary drivers via Nokia Suite with "Run this program in compatibility mode" for earlier version of Windows.

Re: Nokia N9 and Nokia N900 GPS "Looking for GPS" issue
Finally, I have successfully flashed the N9 and tried to do a basic set up, but everything is going wrong
1) Not able to enable developer mode, it gives "Installation packages are missing". Any alternate way to enable dev mode ? 2) openrepos website is not opening in N9 default browser. With out file manager I'm unable to install any deb files. Any help will be very useful to bring back the N9 in 2022. |

Re: Nokia N9 and Nokia N900 GPS "Looking for GPS" issue
I do not have file manger in place for the newly flashed N9, I have transferred the deb file, but unable to find the one with out file manager or terminal. Any guide to install opera mini with out file manger or terminal will be very helpful.
Edit: My N9 again failed to Charge it went to zero battery. Connected using flasher(for flash) and it is charging at 3% now. Not sure what went wrong in the mother board. |

The flashing error doesn't look good... :( Just for check, try to flash with --no-preserve. Sometimes it helps. |
