Re: Port interest and feasibility gauge
My goal is mostly to learn how to use Qt, cURL, and GPSD, none of which I had experience with before starting. Having something worthwhile is just a bonus, that I figured I'd share with others.

Port interest and feasibility gauge
I've been doing some programming, making sort of a TangoGPS-QT-Edition, though less polished than TangoGPS. Anyway, it occurred to me that, being QT, it might port nicely to the n900. However, it...

Re: Wifi Hex Key
Maybe a temporary hackaround would be to enter the first 63, then edit the config file to include the last one?

Re: Running a Recent Kernel on N810 Thread
No idea; see the first post point 5.
EDIT: It should support charging; at least when booting into Maemo, the battery monitor shows it charging and has predicted remaining battery life.

Re: Running a Recent Kernel on N810 Thread
I suppose it could be a conflict between the kernel's /dev and udev's. You could try disabling the kernel /dev (I don't remember where the option is offhand).
I don't think I have pts mounted, but...

Re: Running a Recent Kernel on N810 Thread
Try it with n810_defconfig (or my config).
If you've done so already, can you see any boot messages indicating what's going on/where it's getting stuck?
Also, do you have the tablet in r&d mode...

Re: Running a Recent Kernel on N810 Thread
Here are the steps I went through (patches are earlier in the thread, termana's for 2.6.33.1, NOT tmr's for linux-omap-2.6.34-rc3, as possibly stated incorrectly earlier):...

Re: I値l just leave this here
What are you trying to boot?
I kept the rootfs line to boot from internal flash, but, with fanoush's initfs, you can still choose which to boot from.
If you go into device drivers->watchdogs...

Running a Recent Kernel on N810 Thread
I figured it'd be good to have all the info at least linked to in one place, and have a single place to discuss problems/fixes. Current info is mostly here:...

Re: I値l just leave this here
I hacked it together (thanks to your information); just replacing 2 instances of "cx3110x" with "p54spi" in driver/net/wireless/p54/p54spi.c at least makes wlan0 show up.
Thanks once again, tmr!

Re: I値l just leave this here
Firstly: I too am wondering about how p54spi relates to wifi. I have it built as a module, but modprobing it does nothing; at least I don't get any new interfaces and dmesg shows nothing. My...

That would seem to make sense.
While Xomap appears to not work, Xorg with xserver-xorg-video-omapfb does. I'm presently trying to get a Mer installation upgraded to Debian Sid (to use said...

I've always found starting the flasher on the PC first, then (with USB cable connected) running the flasher (this assumes you're using Linux); ie:

Much better! I still had to enable tsc2301 (drivers->spi->tsc2301), but other than that, things seem to be going well.

It doesn't fully boot, though (just shuts down...

Re: Building an updated kernel (problems)
Well, that didn't work.
Questions:
1. There's got to be a better way to test kernels than choosing commits, building, flashing, etc. Any guides I've missed? Any way to at least get some boot...

So with the latest Linux-OMAP head (2.6.34-rc3, I believe, I don't know the exact commit), the built kernel behaves a little differently. Instead of just sitting there at the "Nokia" pre-initfs...
