I think I was trying the zoom by 2 option only along with other options but these combinations just defaults it back down to normal size.
It can still work with the full description...

Still trying to get the datebook application to launch from personal menu in portrait full screen mode. Only option I managed to get working is the rotated option, tried screensize but no luck etc....
