there seem to be mixed results with 3g. Some report that disabling data roaming allows 3g to work. No luck for me either with US T-mobile. Strange because most do not seem to be affected.

What you said is a bit confusing. The GPS is the hardware on your phone that uses satellite and cell towers (for A-GPS).

As for the applications, I like Mappero especially for its pre-download...

Note to myself and anyone else that wants to try this. Let gpodder create the directory you want it to download to. When I created the folder /home/user/gpodder it refused to downloads any podcasts...
