Re: Has anyone actually tried the iPad?

You're assuming we have some control over what our companies purchase or demand we support. We don't. When we're told that product "abc" is the best for the job, make it work. We can't say, let's...

Re: Has anyone actually tried the iPad?

Yeah, that's a biggie. And it seems it's just that Steve has a chip on his shoulder about flash. There's no reason except that same old Apple god complex.

The unit is appealing... smooth, very...

Re: What woud you realistically like to see in the N900?

FOLDERS! For Apps it would be very nice.

For contacts, I consider it a necessity. Friends, family, girls, work, vacation, medical, projects. All these numbers do NOT need to be searched or...

Re: NPR actually covered the closed apple ecosystem this morning

The market changed, the world changed, we didn't. The fact that you're reading this in maemo.org tells me you're more technically literate than most. Do people ask you for help on their computers?

Re: NPR actually covered the closed apple ecosystem this morning

"The anti-Internet". I never thought of it that way. But they're right. That's why I sold my iphone, it was too locked down. Giving our Internet choices to a corporation is a very bad trend.

Media Player - Video, has a choice to sort by categories. Is it possible to create user defined categories?

I tried creating a directory and sorting my videos that way, but N900 is unaware of the...

Re: Making folders and managing icons

Matan, will this be included into your regular modified-hildon-desktop, or do I need to run this version from now on?

Re: Making folders and managing icons

I'm not clear on the icon position. Is this counting pixels or icons?

If 0 is the left most icon, what number would be the right most icon in the same row?

Re: Making folders and managing icons

Grimm,

Thanks for your example! Yes I'd changed mine to Ed.menu but I didn't want to confuse things by trying to explain that as well.

Oh... your instructions for the hildon.menu still show...

Re: Making folders and managing icons

So maybe this is impossible...

But once I have the applications.menu displayed, I can select the new Grimm icon (looks like a "More.." icon), and it then displays the Grimm.menu. This is how it's...

/etc/xdg/menus/hildon/applications.menu

I want to somehow run this script...

Re: Making folders and managing icons

I'm getting there. :)

By installing your keyboard commands, I've now made a widget for "dbus-hildon-desktop set_state 128" and it launches the Application screen. YEA!!!

And then using Grimm's...

Re: N900 connected to USB at home 24/7 bad for battery?

Li-ion battery life is dependent on the number of charges. It does not matter if it's charging from 5% to 100%, or from 95% to 100%. It counts as one charge less in the life of the battery. So the...

Eliminating "More.." (which hasn't happened yet), does not invalidate the request for a shortcut from the desktop to the "More.." menu. It just changes the request to "a shortcut to the application...

Re: N900 MODs - share your MODs!!

Re: N900 MODs - share your MODs!!

Ok, here are the batteries...

I'm uploading the scalable ones again because there was a white pixel on the 13% icon, and I fixed a couple things that you could only see at 1200% magnification. :)...
