Hello,

I dropped my N9 and it its screen smashed and is not usable any more. My PC recognises it so I think I can recover things using PC suite but I would like to complete reset it before I throw it so that no one else can recover anything, is there a way to reset it?

Also, once I have my phone number using PC suite, can I then use them on other OS based phones like Android?

thanks in advance.

If you have developer mode and set a user password, you can ssh (winscp) to copy files from N9
There is also rescue kernel that you can boot from, to populate the N9 filesystem , here you will be better of using Linux.
Lastly, get the screen repaired (with the risk of repair place wiping the phone)
