I've installed gvm for OS2007 on an N800 running 2007. The problem comes when I try to use it: I can't install any palm programs, even ones that are supposed to work. For instance, if I try to install Datebook5, it says

Failed to install DateBk5.prc
(err=0x30060209)

Does anyone know what's wrong?

I Don't know what's going on with your installation but if you want Datebk5 to work I strongly recommend that you just upgrade to OS 2008 and then the N810 GVM. I dowwnloaded and installed Datebk5 last night and it syncs well. GVM even automatically, after asking, switches from the supplied date book to Datebk5. You will like the 2008 OS. My only dislike with it is that MicoB doesn't know how to resize pages so you don't have to drag pages side to side to read things.

Edit: BTW, last night my first attempt to install Datebk5 didn't work. I had downloaded it from a web site. It turned out that the software had been downloaded as compressed files and needed to be unzipped. In fact I wrote down the error message I got after the install attempt. It was the same exact error message you got. So that could be your problem.

Yes, Datebk5 syncs. I wasn't having success with the supplied Date Book syncing so I downloaded a trial version of Datebk5.

( find it here : http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/datebk5.htm )

They are asking about $25 for the software after a 45 day trial.

So far it's syncing though.

Doesn't here. Says it's syncing but no events cross.

Hmm,

Tonight I'll dig up all the software version info for you so we can compare our setups. If mine can work ,yours can. I'll edit this message tonight.

Neil

Edit:
OK, Versions. My Palm Desktop is version 4.1.4
Hotsync.exe is version 4.0.4
DateBK5 is version V-5.4a, s6

The following passages are copied from the Yahoo group called pimlicodatebk. It was written just yesterday.I thought it might be worth adding it to this discussion because you can see from it that the CESD at Pimlicosoftware seems to be aware that there are issues with Datebk and the Garnet VM and he seems willing to work on it. He also mentions version V-5.1b of Datebk5 being a version that should work on the VM.

It's the app that's missing which is most likely the problem (no palm device
has ever not had the built-in applications). But since Styletap has the same
problem, I'll most likely add some kludge to the final release of V-6.1 to
get this to work. V-5.1b will run fine on this (as it runs fine on styleTap
too).

I will post a note on this forum when this issue is addressed.

Cheers!

Super! Will try this out today.
now an GVM applet that redirects system sound calls to wifi/bluetooth coupled with an OS800 applet to listen for said GVM call and make a peep, or a beep...
All that stable and the only thing that would be better is a direct port.
(if there was an econ that danced around it would be placed here)
