I have forcefully installed supertux2 datafile from commandline as app man said file currupted. I am pretty sure I installed the file previously but it had dependency error. size of home was decreasing until the freespace reached 0byte! and finally memory full tye of error. Then I went to fapman and appman to remove the package but it wasn't there. Digged into opt folders and I found out supertux2 folder folder has many folders and almost all subfolders have folder named .svn to many depth. I tried to delete supertux2 folder but it deletes few file and as turn comes out for that .svn folder, it shows permission error (filebox with root, total commander). I browsed inside many directory and manually deleted .svn folder but there are too many to be deleted.

I tried apt-get remove supertux2-data but it says it needs to install it first. Any workaround to delete the whole directory on the go?

not exactly rm -rf but tried rm * from supertux2 folder but seems like the comman is only for files and folders are not deleted that way.

sudo gainroot
sudo rm -rf *

that should get rid of everything including "." folders/files

oh it did the job, hell I didn't inclide -rf! I was bit scared to include that option since I lost all my data last time due to that command. btw seems like supertux has created lots of data in other place as well since I still don't have much space recoverd.

Don't do this, could be dangerous if done incorrectly
better:
sudo rm -r '.the_directory'

are you serious with this answer?

this could lead anyone with limited knowledge of unix command to delete their entire root fs
