Hi,

For installed Android Gingerbread 2.3.1 I used the following comment to format my MicroSD card

Code:
mkfs.ext3 /dev/mmcblk0p1
But now I am unable to see my phone memory on the file manager and PC is prompting to format, kindly help!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

I got a bad news for you. The partition you've formatted - was your home's folder MyDocs. Here's an example:

/home/user # mount | grep MyDocs
/dev/mmcblk0p1 on /home/user/MyDocs type vfat

As youi see here - it's mounted right on your MyDocs.
This is a first partition from your internal mmc, not external SD, you should have used mmcblk_1_p1 not _0_, the correct name of the needed partitioni device is /dev/mmcblk1p1. Sorry. Yo've really destroyed your storage folder. And you need now to format it back in FAT. Did you use correct instruction how to install Gingerbread on N900?
