I always feel sorry for designer bears, collector bears or Bears that Cost Too Much. Bears are meant to be hugged, held, cuddled and taken to bed by small children (and spinster clergy). Expensive bears who get auctioned and spend their lives in glass cabinets are being robbed of the chance to fulfill their teddy-hood.

My sister did give me a little Steiff pendant for Christmas. But I don't own a Steiff otherwise. Most of my bears came from charity shops or fundraisers, arrived as gifts or were delivered with labels asking me to look after them for a range of reasons.

Besides, if I bid on a bear like that I'd have no money left for gadgets.

Some bears are bred for their looks, others their brains. Sometimes you get both, but then you're very lucky. Dogs, I find, are similar - we have a few pure bred dogs with siblings who are 'shown' - I can tell you, ours have a much better life rolling in the mud and snow...

I have no money for gadgets. My pets eat it all.

All bears have looks and brains. It's just that some are forced to deny their teddyhood and live a life of a collector's piece (the same happens to some dogs, children and women, actually).

This is aggravated by the fact that Bear wisdom is somewhat different from what human beings consider 'brains'. It's often more useful for living by, though. (Tiddlypom)

I've always been a Piglet wisdom fan myself though...

I have both of those - the Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet. Great wisdom from furry brains.

Perhaps this should be a brainstorm:

Required reading for t.m.o... Or just for using Maemo.

What would we add to those 3 books?

Strunk & White's Elements to Style for posting

You next...

Staying with the children's theme, how about a little ladybird book.

Ooh. Nice...

Okay, I see your book and raise you one as yet unreleased but worth a look when it gets here

Only if you're buying. £113??

Alternatively, this would be cheaper.
