I live in the US and have US regional settings, but I prefer the European date format dd-mm-yyyy. I couldn't find any way to change this. Is it possible. If not if i change the regional setting to UK can i get a problem or something.

It seems the date format is tied in with the language selection. Pretty odd - I'd vastly prefer it to be tied in with the regional settings, as it should be.

Please see, and vote for, bug 463.

Incidentally, bug 6363 says that the date format is taken from language settings, not regional, so a workaround for the original poster would be to have regional settings US but language UK.
