Really? Not sure why that would be - I just send the string to openssl and compare what it sends back.
Try passwords of various lengths and make sure that's the problem - it could be using your old password or something like that.

So why do you think it's got an 8 character limit? If you're just getting wrong password, um... it could be other things..?

Thile generating some dummy passwords for yhis I just noticed that

qweqweqwe - works
QWEQWEQWE - does not work
123456789 - does not work
12345678 - does not work
12345 - does not work

I remembered that my working longer than 8 cahracters password had single uppercase letter at the end. Then I started to suspect the input method and I think I found a reason.

When multiple "special" characters are entered it is convinient to HOLD DOWN the shift or alt key while typing then just like in X Terminal or everywhere else.

Boot menu does this differently, the shift/alt,ctrl keys are for single use only, so to type 12345 you have to press-and-release alt,1,alt,2,alt,3,alt,4,alt,5,enter. Why ?

If the typed characters have been briefly echoed, this had been easier to find out.

You'll notice the "special key" go GREEN when it is activated. That is deliberate and I really fail to see how you didn't notice that.

My password has multiple case letters as well as numerical and special characters, and it's yet to become a bother. I perform a backup once a week. Works fine as it is.

You can hit the key twice to lock it(or any combination of shift/ctrl/alt 2x each to lock them). I can't get multiple button presses from evkey which I use for input; I only get one key value from it.

edit:
To unlock a key, press it again(3x total).

So... Noone else?
That's surprising; Can anyone else confirm or deny the issue mentioned above with the passwords?

I have multiboot and backupmenu from this thread, so I'm wondering if the latest update (v0.65) will work with multiboot?

Unless there is some misunderstanding on which boot package thst is, Robbie has already answered it. I asked about the multiboot version, and he said he won't do it, he doesn't like multiboot. I'm stuck with it, because my N900 randomly exhibits behavior that needs multiboot to fix.

The answer is back in this threads.
