Hello everybody!
This morning, my N900 was working fine.
After a simple reboot, it kept on showing the "Unable to perform operation. Internal error" msg over and over while it was still loading from the reboot and long time after i turned the phone on, even though i was not operating anything.
Some of my photos, look corrupted and also 4 out of 9 background views are black and i can't change them.
All contacts and messages are gone, and most of the apps, are not responding.
When i opened Yappari, it acted like i just installed it and was asking for registration.
Email accounts are there but a msg popped up saying "Unable to select server inbox. Restart the app and try again"
I have 21.2011.38-1Tmaemo7.2+thumb1 installed and i didn't experience any problems till this morning.
My problem looks almost like this [URL="http://213.128.137.28/showthread.php?t=72870"] but not the same.
Does anyone have any ideas to help me solve this?
Thank you in advance people..

P.S. I am not a power user so i might need a few details.. (o:

Could you post (as attachment) your dmesg output?

To do that:
1. Open xterm
2. type "dmesg > /home/user/MyDocs/dmesg.log" without quotes
3. Connect your n900 via USB in mass storage mode. You'll find dmesg.log in main folder

Note: as your problems could be related to a corrupt filesystem, you might not be able to do the above. In that case and if you have SD card in the device, replace /home/user/MyDocs with /media/mmc1 in the above command. That way you'll have dmesg.log in the main SD card folder.

Ooh, and keep in mind that commands and directory names are case-sensitive . Also, if you use windows, DO NOT LET HIM repair the filesystem if this is offered to you

@freemangordon Thank you so much for your help! Really appreciate it.
I didn't have to use the SD card. It was possible to do it as you suggested.
Again.. thank you in advance mate.

your mmcblk0p2 has corrupted most probably /home/user.

Had similar problem myself that after a sudden reboot the N900 started showing unable to perform operation, permission denied errors.
Didn't have much luck myself so i formated my phone.

I did tryied to check optfs using backupmenu but it didn't solved the issue.

what version of kernel power is installed on your N900?

Yep, as stated by the others, your filesystem is corrupted. Though I'd prefer to leave advices on e2fsck to some other guy, who knows it better.

Anyone?

Maybe this could solve my prob? But with "mmcblk0p2" instead of "mmcblk0p1" http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=739983&postcount=4

You can try but mmcbl0p2 is in use so umount will most likely fail.

I don't want to scare you but there is another problem. Your FS corruption is quite localized so fsck might help but we don't know what is actually corrupted, only that they are all bad entries in directory #57347. If directory #57347 is something important then you may end up with a crippled phone anyway. The lost data will probably remain lost although you might be able to restore the affected applications by reinstalling them.

It looks like you have nothing to lose, so go for it. And once done, install BackupMenu. It will make maintenance of this kind much easier
