I'm new to the tablet scene (dont own one yet but working on it) i saw on the mameo site there is a version of mame, how functional is it?

This is hard to answer. Xmame works and plays games. 8-bit era games generally run fullspeed, later games do not. Some are only playable with bluetooth keyboard. You may need to make custom control mappings for certain games.

The n800 isn't primarily designed for gaming, so there are limitations to take into account. However the games and emulators are a nice add-on function to pass some time. The amount, quality and speed of emulators is increasing over time.

yeah, as with all gaming on the n800, the biggest issue is the layout of the buttons which makes playing anything extremely uncomfortable.
