I'm working on port Battle for Wesnoth. No sound, resources loading very slow, but its playable. I will publish first release soon, when I finish my work connected with maemo-mapper (displaying some textual gps information).

well excuse me to open this thread about the work of someone else, but for me Battle for Wesnoth is a great game, and i think it's perfect for the nokia n770/n800.

i was very happy to know someone was making a port for maemo, well I have a nokia n800 since a few days ago, and i'm very interested about this, so i'd like cjackiewicz to have us informed with all news about his project in this dedicated thread.

that's my humble petition.

very good news:

cjackiewicz told me he abbandoned the port for 770 for time reasons, but now he has more time and he's willing to make a new port for n800, based on version 1.2 (current stable version)

if i happen to know anything new, i will post it here

Some news: Battle for Wesnoth is comming. Works well: full screen (800x480), campaigns, multiplayer (over wifi), full language support. Still no music (sorry, no ogg!). I need a little time to make proper packages (it will be very large package, over 30MB!); I expect release of packages for N800 in next weekend.

Great news, cjackiewicz. Congrats, especially on the UI work.

Ogg support is provided by the Xiph 'Tremor' library, also known as libvorbisidec. I haven't compiled against it yet - looking at mp3-based alternatives (audio data can be batch converted).
