this works:

Code:
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=emelFM2 Root
Exec=/bin/busybox sh -c 'echo emelfm2 | sudo gainroot'
Icon=emelfm2
Type=Application

yes bad things can happen when you forget to lock your screen, so be careful! don't put it on the desktop, leave it in the menu if you want to minimize the risk of an unintentional Bricking

how did you put it there?

how did you create the file? I recommend making a copy of the original shortcut and pasting the new content.

trackerd should recognize changes to /usr/share/applications/hildon as they happen. when you change a file there or create a new one, there's a short lag the moment trackerd updates the shortcut cache. my device shows "no applications" for a short time, afterwards the new icon appears.

what happens when you type the exec line into an x-terminal?

this should work, i have two icons for emelfm2, and one definitely starts as root.
