Interesting; I get the same output as m0da. (Not that I need it; was just curious.)

Some output from the terminal (my code is not 12345 btw):

Code:
Nokia-N900:~# grep -A 13 lock_code /dev/mtd1
lock_code

,

I do not need to crack either, I remember mine, but curiousity killed the cat.

I also get same kind of output. Not exactly the same, but the whitespace and strings in [a-z,0-9,A-Z] are the same.
And my security code is not 12345 either.

PR1.2, so I would not think there has been updates and improvement to some better crypt than useless DES. Unless in some region code models different cryptoalgorithm is used because software patents do not apply or three letter agencies do not enforce to use weak crypto?

But the libraries in charge of device locking have an interesting trait: write **** to the lock code area of where it is stored and it will be reset to 12345.

Attached is a program that will do just that. Warning: It is writing to a very critical part of the N900. I will take no responsibility whatsoever if it messes up your N900. It worked for me (i.e. I was able to reboot fine and change the code fine. Multiple times, actually. I tested quite a few times.) but I cannot ensure it will do the same for you. Use at your own risk.

It disables the autolock upon bootup, writes **** to the lock code area, brings up the control panel applet from which you MUST change it from 12345.

Run as root, prefixing it with run-standalone.sh.

could you tell me how to run this? I would like to either retrieve a forgotten lock code or change it to a new one...

Greetings awesome community, first time poster here.

I bought a second hand phone and don't know the password. Default checked.
I got John working on both Linux and Windows, and they announce "no password hashes loaded", even if I tried the exact result. Copy-pasted text from terminal is

root:cWwWG0IZHuPNs:

I tried without the end colon as well without result, with and without incremental-command.
Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
