Dude, last night... friends, garden and cuteTube... epic win!
I'm playing with the QML video component at the moment. I have it working, but:
1. There is no audio (I have only tested a couple of local files, so I'll continue with further testing).
2. QML elements that are overlaid on the video appear fully opaque, even if the opacity is set lower (in my case 0.5).
3. Transitions on overlaid elements look dreadful, with lots of flicker.
The poor performance of transitions is probably down to disabling OpenGL acceleration. I'll continue with further testing, but there will need to be some compromises in the playback UI (nothing major) in order to make this feasible on the N900.

Version 0.4.4 will be in extras-devel soon. Changelog:
* Clicking the thumbnail in a video list will now play the video.
* Added additional information to video list delegates.
I have also tweaked the behaviour of the 'No videos found' message, so it should not now appear briefly before loading.

now xtube dont work anymore after cutetube-Qml update,I try using the xterminal to reinstall xtube but nothing' can anyone help out

Unfortunately I still don't get thumbnails. I realise you said it is out of your control Marxian, but if I wait for whatever is causing it to be resolved do you think I will be waiting a long time?
I can use the python version until then. Which now needs to be launched via xterm as the latest update broke it.
I posted terminal output in the python cutetube thread.
