Please correct me if I am wrong on this, but to the best of my knowledge, neither the in Maemo 5 itself, nor in its media player a "sleep timer" function can be found.
I do miss such a feature a lot, as I like to listen to audiobooks when going to sleep and it's very important to set a time, when either the media player should switch itself off.
The LCG Player on my N97 has this function and I love it.

My guess is, that it can't possibly be soo difficult to implement a function like this, can it ?

On another note: Would it be possible to implement "gapless play" into the media N900 player ? This would tremendously enhance the pleasure of listening to live albums.

Topic is also brainstormed here:

Its not totally seamless integration to mediaplaer, but perhaps there is, or will be, a 3rd party app for this. I'd imagine creating a desktop widget that communicates "stop" over dbus to mediaplayer isn't that hard to implement.

Nice idea.

Maybe they should be separate, but added suggestion/solution for sleep mode.

winamp does gapless through playback plugins. basically just buffers the incoming data. i dunno how plugin-friendly the media player is.

As, to the best of my knowledge, no solutions exist yet, I gotta bump this again to the top.

*shameless bump*

With regards to a Sleep Timer for the media player,
some of us have been looking at it here :

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ic+player+stop

I have a shell script that accepts a value in minutes , till media player shutdown, coupled to a desktop icon.

twaelti , has made a widget that can set a sleep timer for 15 or 30mins , and is checked into extras-devel.

The media player does need some work and gapless should be pretty high up the list of features to implement - crossfading of tracks would be cool too. Any Rockbox devs out there?

I built Rockbox for N900, it works but slow on playback.

I'm studying how that can be improved. After performance is acceptable, Rockbox will be hildonized
