Somthing that would be awesome was if it was multicore (with at least two ARMs) but also hybrid platform, with one or more x86 cores to run binnaries that haven't been ported yet.

To secure a definite purchase of the N950 from me add the features above to a 4" screen, keep the rock-solid construction, hw keyboard and ease of porting, developing and installing open source software.

That's all Nokia need to do to keep me coming back.
I'm one of them very weird guys who isn't a developer or linux follower. But the N900 was one of my best loved mobile devices. It stays at home nowadays, the reason.....thickness! Any N950/N9.00 or similar will have to be half the thickness for any commercial success.

I think dual core CPU would improve pretty much responsiveness and multitasking, even if freq is the same. RAM is important, but Maybe some of the most important would be Increased NAND (/) space...

I would be very surprised if any successor to the N900 ever saw the light of day.

However.. it would have been nice if they could have added Java support in a simple update. I know there's emulators and so on.. it's just not the same though. Maybe a new phone could solve this..

There were a few apps i had on my old E71 that i quite miss sometimes.

A hypothetical n950 might be nice if it happened,
but Nokia has just flushed the final dregs of credibility down the drain.
They could say or announce or even demonstrate anything they
can dream up and cobble together, but it would remain uncredible.
Who can trust Nokia ever again after the betrayals they
have repeatedly performed against their most ardent fans?

Anyways -
i am actually building my first replacement prototype for
my orphaned n900s now.

a bit rough,
but I am starting with a mini-itx board.
specs:

core i5-650
8gb 1600 ram
Corsair Force 240gb
12vdc power supply
Huawei telephony (usb)
still not sure about the screen yet - but prefer resistive.
will run Mandriva with Debian (and other guests) in VM.

and no -
I really do have a need and immediate use for such a beast
my occupation is weird and it gets weirder every year.
(data acquisition with 64bit processing)

Others can keep their candy-@ss candroids
their apple prisoncells and their m$ virus-fests,
I will have open-source, mobile and on steroids thank you.

I would buy any Nokia with Maemo inside. I am using 770 and N810 with love everyday.
pls just more MHz out of the box (without OC) and bigger LCD.
Thats all

i would LOVE to build my own device, somehow i would like for it to be like building a PC, the problem is that the enclosure and size of the device could be prohibitive, still if i could make the components or at least source them accordingly, i would make this for us; the forgotten:

QWERTY: Dust/Grease Resistant Keys
SEAL DEVICE exactly like high end DSLR's
TI OMAP44xx / Intel Medfield (Pewell)
PowerVR SGX554MP4
2xTHGBM2T0DBFBAIF (Toshiba 128GB NAND, 256GB Total Internal)
2GB RAM (not shared & DDR3)
HDMI-TypeD (able to stream audio, up to and including DSD)
microUSB 3.0
MicroSHXC UHS-1
1xCDCE949 TI Programmable Clock Synthesizer
TLV320DAC3100 32bit DAC (high end isolated audio circuit, LOW noise filter, 4 outputs 1 per amp)
4xOPA637SM or comparable (4ch bal. dependent on output (spdif) configuration (L(+/-) R(+/-)))
Combination LINE/SPDIF out (NOT a headphone out)
NATIVE Codec Support: AVI, WMV, ASF, MP4, MKV, MPG, DAT, TS, TP, TRP, 3GP, DivX, Xvid, H.264, WMV, 7/8/9, MPEG 1, MP3, WMA, OGG, PCM and FLAC
NO POST CONVERSION
WiFi-B.G.N
4.0" CBD OLED 1268*720@24bit screen ~2ms
10.1MPx Back Illuminated (720p@120fps: able to be displayed natively on the device)
2100mAh Battery
GSM 850/900/1800/1900
HSDPA 850/900/1700/1900/2100
HSPA+ 42Mbps
Compass/Magnetometer, 6xGyro, Accelerometer, GPS/AGPS, FM Transmitter
Simultaneous bit-stream across ALL digital outputs, user configurable.
MeeGo.Harm 1.1 or MeeGo 1.2

and yes, there are a BUNCH of things missing, but this is just a wish list.
