Right i broke the LCD screen on my n900 (digitizer/glass is working perfect). Ive replaced loads of screen on other phones, ipods, laptops, etc.... so im very confident. Ive already stripped the phone apart and removed the LCD screen, but after seeing some youtube videos, they say "DO NOT REUSE SCREWS". Urm..... WHY? lol. I have reused them on any other devices ive repaired and not once come across do not reuse screws. Whats the problem? Also, where the heck can i get new screws from anyway? Thanks.

That's what it says in the service manual (there is a download available somewhere if you look). I don't really know what the reason for it is, but I'd guess it is probably Nokia being cautious in case the technician working on it damages the screws when removing them.

There are a few threads around that discuss this issue. I think early on a couple of people bought extra screws, most people neglected to mention anything about them, so I presume you should be OK.

Check out the resources at the bottom of the wiki for the Service manual. In it Nokia say to dispose of them - probably to avoid the heads from stripping at a later date.

Please report back on completion - I have to replace my digitizer in the next fortnight or so.

Oh you might want to do the usb epoxy fix while you have your device stripped, or if you're brave and capable the solder fix as shown here

i repaired both of my N900, it was easy as pie.

i watched both these vids a few times and had no probs. i even took the one apart again as i had dropped an eye lash inbettween the screen and touchscreen

what about the earpiece adhesive?(!) The manual says bin it. I take it it still retains enough stickiness?
