First I would like to explain why I need this.

Media Player (Default Widget)

This is a very useful widget on maemo.
However, it is totally dead when the tablet is rebooted.

So, one has to basically remove the widget and add it back again to get it back to do the job.

Was wondering if there is a way that this can be scripted so that I dont have to do it manually.

The only aspect that i have no idea wrt to this script is that

- how to delete and add a widget on desktop from terminal (linux shell)

Thanks in advance.

I would guess some other widget blocks it! Have you tried to set it up on another desktop or a desktop without anything on but the MP widget?

What does a hildon-home restart do?

cmd there is:

#!/bin/sh
dsmetool -k /usr/bin/hildon-home
sleep 10
dsmetool -t /usr/bin/hildon-home

-k kills it and detaches from watchdog
-t starts it attached to watchdog

if you just kill hildon-home once by hand (not with dsmetool but kill or killall) it does restart itself, if you do that several times in a row the watchdog will think there is something wrong and will restart the device

Is this reproducable? If so, can you install sysklog and
upload the syslog file after a reboot when the media player
widget doesn't work after this reboot.

I read so many times about this bug in the
media player widget and I am curious what is the
reason for this behavior, but I can't get the
media player widget to "not work".
