Not easy!!!

Upon using native mplayer, the most straight forward way to stretch video is add the following to /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf

aspect=w:h

where w=width and h=height

Say a video that is played on the screen as 4:3, you add aspect=15:9, will fill the screen, no black border. However, there are 2 situations that make matter difficult. 1) if the endcoding video is slight bigger than 4:3, then 15:9 will give you 4 borders instead of no border. 2) TV channel may change aspect ratio for different programs, so 15:9 may work on AM but give ugly 4 borders on PM, yes, same TV channel, interesting?

Aspectratio changes ONLY width, height stays constant unless it falls out of the border. For example, 15:10 vs 15:9 will have the same height, but width larger. And 15:10 vs 14:10 will have the same height, but width larger. Just keep in mind, height remains constant, width changes to compensate for the ratio.

The next will be "crop". I am still experimenting, so I will leave this to the experts.

I am talking ONLY play back videos using mplayer. Stetching videos using endcoding is a totally different ballgame and I have nothing to do with it.

PS. Great work bunanson, hope I had more time to
play with my N800 and watch internet TV.
By the way, did you know that shoutcast tv channels
work too

I've found some new ones that work!! (This time I have tested them all, some even work on the default media player)

Mexico Travel Channel
http://201.147.20.2/pm/mexicochannel.wmv

Tv UNAM - cultural
http://201.147.20.2/pm/tvunam.wmv

Imagen Informmativa (live) - news
rtsp://148.240.229.63/broadcast/imagentv.rm

Cadena Tres (28 live) - news, sitcoms, series, movies, cartoons.
rtsp://148.240.229.63/broadcast/canal28.rm

Canal Once (live but low quality) - cultural
http://201.116.43.50:8080/ramgen/encoder/once.rm

I got them from here
http://wwitv.com/portal.htm?http://w...vision/136.htm

The best by far is Cadena Tres since it is live and with great content, movies, news, series and good quality!! And it is a major broadcaster here in Mexico.

Hope this time I've been more useful!!
Yup. They ALL working and with good streaming video quality. Thanks. Already added, should be in next upgrade.

Hey, good to see you again!
I thought shoutcast is radio stations, we do have shoutcast tv channels? I will take a look......any special channel you feel particularly good, video qualitywise? I know, I am kind of prejudice to video quality, but if the video quality is mediocor, even with good content, it is NOT that enjoyable.

I'm really beginning to hate this application.
I sucessfully used it 2 months ago, then it became hard to get any of the USA channels and now with the upgrade I've wasted half an hour trying USA channels without success.

Try mplayer/kmplayer, links don't work with Osso Media Player
(haven't tried all).
To get stream url's you can tap and hold link above the play area (music icon), select details.
Unfortunately you can't copy and paste that url
Or you could save the page and look at embed src="url" and use that url part

It is easier to try those channels with another computer (I have XP)
and look at the page source. I tried all channels, here are the
working and not so working (some were offline). You can just
replace the http: part with mms: if http: doesn't work.
Actually I mass replaced http:// with mms:// (occasionally
mms:// doesn't work, try then http://)
Some channels have that ?WMContentBitrate=somenumber
part at the end of the stream address but I think that it isn't
necessary part. Don't know how long these work.

Working channels (Windows XP mediaplayer):

sonic-lux.de/home/projekte/software/shoutcast_tv_lists/web/

has many shoutcast tv channels (or use Winamp). Copy the Tune in link to mplayer,
such as
mplayer -playlist http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutc...st.pls?rn=5683

Family Guy, Futurama, anime, amateur radio studios and XXX seems to be popular.
Many streams are 320x240 and play well. There are only limited
number of slots free before the channel is full so try different
channels (look at the last column).

I hope someone ports tunapie. Tunapie is rather old Linux program
to watch shoutcast tv.

EDIT: Doh, just tried forum search for tunapie. It seems that at
least unique311 had compiled a buggy version for internet tablet!
Other posts too.
