Today is obviously a sad day for me, i have had my n900 for 3 months and now i have to send it back for repair because the vibrator thingy just died (or better said, is dying) - that means at least 10 days without my precious :/.. I'm sure it's a hardware issue, because if i shake my device or smth, it begins to vibrate again but just for a few seconds, then it dies again. I wonder, has anyone else had the same or similar issue?

Ty for your answers.

Well does anyone at least know where is the thing that vibrates built in the n900 so i could look into it if there's not a lot of work required.. it could just be a bad contact or something.

i would say:
use the warranty as long as you have it - don't void it by screwing around. (:

Mine worked on the first day, then it died.
It was imported from the US, so I couldn't send it again (if I did then I would've had to pay the $200-customs-tax again)
A month later, it started vibrating, lasting about 10 minutes or 2 hours, then it'd die again, so I opened up terminal and started the vibration, put in on the charger, left it overnight and the next day it was working again
So it could be some debris as suggested by DocScrutinizer on the IRC (and the vibration got rid of it somehow)

Yep, I would rather wait for 10 days rather than voiding the warranty.. :S

I really hated discussing this problem when I had it in my N900...

Mine has done the same... If i shake it or tap it, it will work for a little while. I don't think I'll send it off just yet as thats not a huge problem... but it is very annoying
