Hi,

I have a problem regarding the internet connection. I use the phone regularly on wifi but sometimes I need to connect via 3G internet offiered by my carrier. According to my limited plan, I only have 5 MB everyday for free. This is enough for push email, I never exceeded the 5 MB on my old N91. But on Maemo, I exceed 5 MB in less than a minute.

I tried to disable automatic update in all the application that I know use the internet. I made all the updates for the email and calendar manual. I uninstalled the facebook widget. I checked all my installed applications and made sure that they do not need an internet connection. Now I tried to connect again and withing 10 seconds 1.4 MB were downloaded.

Is there any hidden applicaiton or service that uses the internet regularly??

Here are all my extra installed applications:
- Firefox
- Opera
- MyContcts
- Pidgin Messenger
- Witter
- MaePad
- Tweak Flash plugin

Thank you.

the hildon application manager (default app manager) uses ur internet to check for updates unless u tell it to only check when ur using wifi or to never check.
i dont remember how to do that tho, so just look through the options in it and ull find it

i'm not sure that is possible, and there was/is a bug reported....

Its a real pain if you have all the repo's enabled as it's 20+mb! :P

You can 'disable' automatic updates easily - see http://wiki.maemo.org/Customizing_Ma..._Updates_Check

edit: beaten to it by Atilla!
