Hey everybody,

I've been thinking about getting the Nokia N900, and have started to read around on the forums.

I've seen a lot of people complain about the phone - and a lot of users replying that the OP should have done their 'research' on the phone..

Maybe I'm missing something, but what bugs/flaws does the phone have that make it unusually annoying? It seems perfect to me!

Thanks.

Besides not having Flash 10 (I just use the Tweak Flash to "pretend" to have Flash 10 which works on YouTube and FaceBook), I don't see all the problems that people complain about.

To me it seems that You have to be a Linux Geek (which I am) to love it...

I still haven't seen a single device (or "mobile" OS) which beats the N900/Maemo...

One year and still going strong...

If you have a phone in mind that you want the N900 to emulate, you will be disappointed. The N900 is the N900. It's absolutely wonderful when taken on its own terms. Nokia as a company seems to ignore its customers and does what it thinks is fun or right or appropriate. It can't be trusted as to future plans (I think), but in the N900 you don't have to trust it; it exists as is. Especially since it can be had for $350 (Amazon), it is a deal that shouldn't be passed up.

Jardenix my dear,
I've been using my N900 for 6 months, and till now, I experienced no single reboot! I've applied several mods, from them are:
1. Psx4all
2. Flashing Lehto's kernels
3. Kernel-Power v42, v46 is available, but I prefer v42
4. Matan's customized hildon-desktop
5. Preenv Webos-running games
6. Reflashed my own custom emmc image
6. Nitdroid on EMMC
7. Meego dualboot using u-boot
8. Reflashed 32 times till now!
8. Fiddled out alot in Xterm!
So you clearly now see a bit of the possibilities of this device, and the OP should have known that once Meego comes out, Nokia wiil abandon Maemo 5. (That's the only research I can think about).

Mobile hotspot has saved me about £15 per month too....

Pluuus n64 emulator working very well indeed, hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to report how well that works with a ps3 controller too. And the ability to hook it up to a tv...

Seriously, I've yet to see anything that comes close...

Oh and now sunvox too..

Apologize if this thread has been posted before.

I'm pretty much a Linux geek - so thats fine!

Flash seems to be the biggest problem so far but I can deal with that.

And, I was actually looking @ Amazon (the $350) Nokia N900 and I hope to get it soon!

Thanks guys for the extremely fast replies- I'll keep looking at this thread though to see if anything else pops up.

when it comes to Web Browsing, i have the most comfortable experience with the n900. its like a miniature of my laptop.

flash player 10 not so needed hoping that Adobe wont push every site to update their flash to 10.1

i am also hoping for skyfire (which looks like impossible at some point.)

but overall, if you want a phone get another device than N900.
if you want an internet tablet, get the n900, you'll get a phone built in as a bonus.

It's perfect (well, very good) on paper from the POV of a linuxhead.

In reality, apart from it's Skype implementation I can't think of a single thing that Android or iPhone doesn't do better.
