Interesting interview. He talks about going from Symbian to WP7 but doesn't really talk about it... An iconic experience on one device doesn't equate to an iconic experience on another. The Ford Model T and Ford Edsel are both iconic but for different reasons. Nokia had a plan for going from Symbian to MeeGo. It's call QT.

Another thing I get from the interview... Could Nokia be using microsoft? Suppose in a couple years, nokia and microsoft have built their ecosystem however, nokia WP7 devices aren't flying off the shelf. Could that ecosystem then be used for MeeGo (not that I'd care as I have no interest in using anything microsoft relate for my personal use)?! Just a thought...

Well maybe the services could be used for meego, but otherwise I don't know. Apps are platform specific.

Maybe after the next disruption, lol.

Apps are not really platform specific. Let me introduce you Alien Dalvik.

Dalvik is just Java with different underlying class library.

I remember that Novell used to claim that they had actually gotten the best end of the deal when they partnered with Microsoft. Where are they now?

maemo wasnt a complete fail, just a lack of development *not many companies have developed on it*
maybe drm?
or maybe n900 is the only maemo device
but if nokia goes with meego instead of win7, meego being open source and more customizable + *if its on more then one type of device* might even be a bigger hit then android
iOS jus sucks so its not even in the list..
